Western Medical Acupuncture is a therapy which involves the insertion of fine needles into the body. The needles stimulate the sensory nerves under the skin and in muscle, which release the body's natural endorphins; these in turn help relieve pain and promote healing.
Acupuncture can be used to help manage a wide range of painful conditions including chronic joint and muscle pain, headaches and migraine.
It is derived from ancient Chinese medicine but uses current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, and the principles of evidence based medicine.
I am a qualified doctor as well as being trained in acupuncture by the British Medical Acupuncture Society.
